On August 9th, Archer and I went for our first "Mommy & Me" swim lessons at our community pool complex. The class is very basic - getting him in the water, putting water on his head, kicking his little feet, etc. The class is really for mommy & baby bonding, as well as for helping your baby get comfortable in the water. I felt kind of silly taking him for "swim lessons" when he's so little and can't really do anything, but I was reassured that getting him in the water early was a good thing when I saw a 5 year old boy in the pool screaming at the top of his lungs and pulling at the lifeguard's hair because he was so scared (the lifeguard was holding him in shallow water). At that point, I decided you can't start too soon! Here are some photos of Archer's swim lessons:

Before getting in the pool, Archer hides his face - it's so bright outside!

Archer has a hard time staying awake during swim lessons! It's really funny. I get him in the water, kick his feet, get his head wet, and he SLEEPS!!

Archer yawning as I get him into the swimming pool.
Archer wakes up while he learns to kick, kick, kick in the water! |
We've really enjoyed our morning swims together! I'm bummed they will end this Friday, but I look forward to taking him to the pool more often when he's bigger and can stay awake!!
