| Archer Cade Washburn - 1 Month |
Aaron & I survived the first month!!!
Archer has grown so much; it's amazing how quickly the first month of Archer's life has flown by! It makes me so happy to see our little guy grow and develop...and it also makes me a little sad too. I'm sure I'll feel that way from now on. It's a good feeling :) A big thank you & shout out to my friend Kim E. for the cool stickers to help us keep track of Archer's growth over the next year!
We also want to thank our wonderful church body & our fantastic friends who brought us meals during the first few weeks we were home with Archer. I don't know what we would have done without you! Thank you for helping take care of us. We love you guys so much!!
One month update:
Aaron was off of work for the first week we were home with Archer so we were able to learn and be parents together. I am so thankful for that time! We came home from the hospital on June 25th, and I struggled to nurse Archer for what seemed like an eternity, but it was only a few days. During this time, Aaron was there supporting me and encouraging me every step of the way. My milk did finally come in at 2:15am on June 27th - I will never forget it. I was praying and crying, and Archer was quietly filling his belly. It was the sweetest moment!

On Wednesday, June 29th, Archer smiled at me while he was sleeping. He totally melted my heart. I wish I had a camera to capture that moment.
On Sunday, July 3rd, our little family ventured out to our friend's house warming party. We were having a great time getting out of the house until I went to change Archer's diaper. I totally panicked! Archer's plastibel circumcision ring looked like it was infected. We left and immediately went to Cook's Pediatric Urgent Care, checked in, and waited. We met the doctor, explained the problem, and then she examined our guy. The doctor was very nice and said, "It looks great!" As she was saying this, she was moving the plastibel up and down like it was no big deal. If you had been there, you would have seen me looking horrified!! I couldn't believe she was doing that! She told us it would fall off in the next few days...and she was right. It totally fell off on Tuesday, July 5th. I saved the little plastibel for his baby book ;)
Monday, July 4th was Archer's first holiday! We didn't go anywhere or do anything. We hung out at home & watched fireworks on TV. It was a pretty chill day for us.
On Wednesday, July 6th, Archer's belly button stump fell off! (Yes, I saved it! Is that weird??)
On Thursday, July 7th, Aaron and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary! We slept! However, on Friday, July 8th, Aaron and I left Archer with Grandma & Grandpa for a few hours, and we went to see a movie. It was nice to get out, but I couldn't help but text Grandma & Grandpa during the show to check on our man. I just couldn't help myself!! Of course, he was totally fine :)
On Tuesday, July 12th at 12:25pm I was holding Archer and smiling at him, and he locked eyes with me and smiled back! I was so excited I called Aaron at work to tell him!
On Wednesday, July 13th, Archer had his 2 week check up. He was back up to his birth weight (YAY!!) and he'd grown a whole inch!
On Saturday, July 16th, Archer had his first bath in the kitchen sink! He also had his first photo shoot!

On Friday, July 22nd, I brought Archer to meet Aaron's coworkers. Everyone enjoyed meeting him and holding him! That same day, Aaron and I set off on our very first road trip with Archer! What an experience! (I'll share more on that in another post.)
Archer's first month flew by! It has been a challenging and wild ride, but it has been the best experience, and I look forward to the months and years to come! (We're really looking forward to Archer sleeping through the night! LOL.)
