Last Friday, October 7th, Aaron, Archer, Dad W. and myself went to the
Mecum Auction Auto Show that was in Dallas for a few days. Dad W. likes to record and watch the Mecum auctions on TV, and we watch them too when we visit. So, when we heard Mecum's schedule would put them in Dallas this year, I just knew Dad W. had to go see it in person. I took off of work and off to Dallas we drove!
For those not familiar with Mecum, they auction classic cars, collector cars, motorcycles, and boats. It's actually pretty cool. On the way into the convention center, we just happened to ride up in the elevator with one of show's announcers. I had no idea who he was, but he was friendly and started talking to us on the way up. As we walked towards the entrance, Dad W. (who recognized the man as one of the show's announcers) told him how much he enjoyed watching the show. The guy was really nice and shook Dad's hand, and he was about to walk away, and then he turned around and said, "Do you guys have tickets?" We told him we didn't and that we were about to buy some, and he said, "Well, today's your lucky day." And he gave us 3 tickets to get in (Archer got in for free)! I couldn't believe it. That was so nice!
So Archer got to spend the day learning about cars with his Dad and his Grandpa while Mom took pictures:

| I thought this 1967 Chevy Corvette was pretty cool. It reminded me of Elvis in Blue Hawaii. |
 |
| Archer liked this 1960s "Amphicar." Pretty neat. |
We had a really good time at the auction. We didn't buy anything, but it sure was fun to look and watch those who were buying! Archer had fun too, he especially liked the auctioneer's voice -- it put him right to sleep, although the gavel did startle him a couple of times. I hope Mecum decides to come back to Dallas next year!
